Swim 2012

I feel like I've mentioned this a million times or not at all but I am stillll in the process of *hopefully* booking a girly holiday with my friends and I need need need a break! Sometimes it's just one thing after another and right now I'm in wisdom tooth hell; my mouth is so sore. Ouch! I don't have a dentist appointment for a few weeks so I hope it will go down, staying in with sugary treats probably doesn't help the situation! However today I did have a nice cook up of a bean chili and loads of roast veggies and stocked up on lots of good stuff! I have a busy week ahead with a few visits to London so need to be feelign tip top.

I've been browsing the shops as spring fashion is so exciting but I'm not buying yet. I'm not sure what trends will stick around for good and Motel has loads of great things coming so I could practically shop exclusively there! We have a new line for March that even we haven't seen properly yet so I'm exciteddd. Bit weird that we will preview the May/June collection on Tuesday but haven't had the March drop yet! Bloggers look out. If you'd like to hear Motel news, I can add you to my updates, just comment here.

My sister always goes on holiday and I went on a mini 4 night break last year so we have promised to share holiday wardrobes for this year; think maxi dresses, skirts, sarongs, etc. I was checking out H&M though and saw this goooorgeous bikini, I LOVE it!! Next time I'm in town I'll have to hunt it down as the neck detailing is so nice and I love the nude/coral colours. They have it in hot pink and black but they are nowhere near as nice. Bring on spring/summer 2012!!

It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes -- that's why you sometimes need really special shoes!

I haven't watch SATC in SO LONG, this post title was a must! It was a toss up between that or "I’ve spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!". The title is quite fitting though as I mean single as in a woman off winning the world rather than being a single lady; being in a relationship doesn't matter on this blog!

Basically I have a few Motel and non-Motel events coming up where I want to look super cool, profesh, stylish and on the ball. Yes I did just write profesh, but hey, this is my blog! I don't have any amazing super heels that are just cool, as the ones I wear clubbing (lol as if, I hardly ever go out anymore!) are just a bit too... dressy? They just look better with a dress rather than an 'outfit', if that makes sense. Now I do have my Miu Miu shoes above and these bejewelled River Island copies of another Miu Miu shoe, but I really want a new pair of shoes! I especially want a pair of bright wedges! I'm crushing all over these Aldo ones.

The teal, lime, lilac, nude or pink please! However my heart will always be set on Litas but I fear Nasty Gal customs fees! Also I'm wondering if there's a next new hot thing around the corner? Will Litas ever be 'over'?

Ahh I'm not sure, really I should save the pennies and wear something I own! Also I do know you can get rip offs of all these shoes on eBay and other cheapie websites but I have a sort of self-rule not to buy rip offs from cheap places where the manufacture is questionable! I've seen too many rip offs of Motel designs and it's so not fair on designers and brands!

TOWIB, MORE!, LONDON FASHION WEEK AND SAMPLE SELLING!

Hi everyone! I currently have very straight hair as I finally used a Groupon voucher today for a keratin treatment on my day off! I was toying between just having the afternoon off but I've been so busy recently that I really need a break!! Hopefully there will be a 2012 holiday for my friends and I!

Last Saturday I spoke at The Only Way Is Blogging on the PR panel! My job is not strictly PR as in-house marketing really differs in the way that I have to be more sales focused than brand focused, and I'm the blogger lady at Motel. If you are considering a marketing career, it's an interesting thought to really home in your applications as, if you like figures, analytics and strategy then I'd look towards marketing but if you're more brand value/image/ethics related then I'd look towards PR.

I had no idea what to expect and was really worried I'd say something silly but answering all the questions was really fun! I hope people don't feel blogging is scary as really your blog is yours so you should do whatever you fancy! My favourite blogs are about people, not retail/products/brands/sponsors, but that's just what's on my reader. I love reading new blogs and the more down to earth and personal, the better in my eyes!

I was in London again for Social Media Week, which had mostly free talks and seminars held by Google, Nokia, and all sorts of companies in the industry. Students were welcome too so if you're career savvy right now, you should look out for events like these! I ideally would have gone to many but as I live in Bristol, I could only really pop over for one day. I met loads of people and put forward lots of comments which is something I would never have done in lectures in the past. As I'm with Motel for longer, I'm really growing in confidence with representing myself and feeling the fear but doing it anyway! Talking in front of 100 or so bloggers at TOWIB was nothing but rewarding!

I was on Twitter on the train that morning and spotted a tweet about the more! Media Network event from Lauren of The Cosmetics Kitten who had a spare ticket. The event sold out really quickly and Lauren kindly gave it me so I attended that in the evening, thank you Lauren!! About 30 girls (funny how there were no boys) 'speed dated' every member of the more! magazine team, from the editor to the intern, chatting for two minutes about absolutely anything, although of course a lot was career related. It was great to meet other people within the fashion industry and they seemed like the tightest knit team! I asked about how they all balanced their creative inputs and it seems they all know the more! voice so it flows perfectly. There were also jobs in sectors you wouldn't necessarily know of that are worth exploring such as advertising and sales, which I know there are lots of graduate jobs for in publishing. From chatting to the girls around me it seemed everyone thought the event was so valuable and we all got a really fantastic goody bag too. No random perfume samples here! The nu: notebook was a lovely touch as the event was aimed towards journalism.

Then there was fashion week! Oh wait no, first there was the Motel Sample Sale! Often as Motel is such a small team, we all chip into adhoc events and I helped at the sample sale in our London showroom on the Thursday. If you're thinking 'What sample sale?!?! Why wasn't I there!' then you are not following Motel on Facebook or Twitter, which are both run by me! I am the one sitting there writing all the blurb and running the competitions and Fiver Friday. Yes, on a Friday we make a few items only £5! They typically sell out in about 15 minutes so keep your eyes peeled.

Ok enough about Facebook, but the sample sale had hundreds of things from £3, including things online right now for £50+, so it's totally worth the visit next time! If you're wondering what a sample sale exactly is, although you may know this, a few months before each collection launches (we have eight a year at Motel) we get to see the first 'draft' of every item (usually around 50). Then the buyers choose what's in, what's out, what needs to be changed, or what needs to be added in a different print/colour (usually prints at Motel!) and then they go into full production. We then have time to plan how we are going to show them to Motel fans! As samples aren't always the final finished garment, we cannot sell them along with all the stock, so we hold a sample sale! That's why there are unique, exclusive items that never went into production.

I don't mind mucking in and was flyering on Oxford Street at one point and basically saw everyone I've ever met in my whole life!!! How embarrassing haha! Some dude even offered me a job flyering for his club and I was like 'I have a job!!' Still, the next day chic points had to be high as we hit fashion week! I had lots of help from my babelicious interns and a few of Motel's student ambassadors, who flaunted Motel like a dream team all across Somerset House! These lovely girlies have blogs too so from left to right is Laura, Melita, Sarah and Katie, and shout out to unpictured Taz who had ah-mazing American flag Litas!

We went to a few shows (Felder Felder above - yay for earthy rust colours, they definitely suit my hair!!) and had lots of celeb spots, the best being Pixie Lott who said she loved Motel! I was a total lurker and asked for a picture too, mostly to show my brother who has one of her more leggy snaps as his iPod background. She is gorge!

And this is what I wore, photographed by Motel's photographer and web team-er Lora and above student ambassador Melita! The dress is Motel but it's er, not actually online yet! The print is of a clouded poppy field with a scuba neckline, so cool, with the Freya Fur Coat (<< that's Motel's outlet shop). I also wore my Miu Miu tea cup shoes of course! I was going to go for creepers but when else am I going to wear these shoes?!

Monki Pastel Flatforms <3

Evening all! I was just snuggling up in bed and getting ready to watch Skins (Nick is my new ultimate fitty!!!) when I got distracted as usual and browsed a few shops. Well hellllo lovers - I found the cutest shoes!! These stacked flatforms from Monki are the sweetest ballet pink and have a patent platform!! Seriously cute and not too scary for those fearful of creepers. The ribbon laces are the best things I've ever seen! Remember Monki is owned by H&M too so the quality is great. They're only 40 euros but I'm not spending at the moment as I'm trying to save for some holidays (if my friends and I can ever arrange one!). However if you do decide to get these beauties, remember to get a Monki teddy too as they are super soft and perfect cuddling size. I'd love to go back to Sweden!

Big Bow Time

I love a bit of good old H&M and went stalking for this bag last week. Despite LOVING the bow, I think I'm taking it back as I wish it was more of a coral pink so it looked more expensive. It did come with a cheapie gold chain and I swapped it for this lighter one but still the pink is too bright to be what normally suits me. Love bows forever though! I am zzzz right now as it's been the most hectic few weeks and I've just been tumbling and browsing ladies watches all day! Wishing for LDN life and summer sun.

Things I'm quite liking

Hi all! OK tonight I am stressedddd! Super stressed. A lot going on and so little time, so I keep rearranging things and ahh! I don't quite know if I am coming on going, probably because I went all the way home on the weekend and had to stay indoors because of the snow! Damn. I feel a bit like I need another weekend. When I screw my head back on though, here are a few things that I'm into right now...

Shirts with metal necklaces! Or neck bars? I've been wearing my H&M gold necklace under any random shirts I have, and you might be surprised at the amount you own. Off the top of my head I didn't think I owned any shirts, but this is a really random Urban Outfitters shirt that is a very strange shape but it's fine when just showing the lace collar!

I've also been using my Topshop leather backpack eeeevery day since I got it online before it was in every store. Love! It fits all my useless but essential baggage and also because it's black, it always feels very clean, inside and out, whereas sometimes bags can wear quite quickly and you might end up with a few pen leaks inside.

Found this shoot of Doutzen Kroes for Muse Magazine and I looove the fluffy jumper with the random print. Reminds me of our Baroque Print at Motel! Fluffy jumpers are the best, I wear my white Forever 21 fluffy cropped jumper all the time.

I'm into storage at the moment as I'm not spending money on new things so need so show some love for what I have! I just saw Gemma's posts on Gem's Maquillage of Makeup Mixups and I think I might try it! I have no idea how I'll ever get through all my lipsticks/blushers/eyeshadows.

I found this picture on Tumblr and I need to get my flared jeans out and make the most of them! I will turn it into a trend... hmmmm.

The Wildfox Summer Lookbook has been released too! I'm on constant watch for the 'I'm really a mermaid tank' so hopefully this means they're doing even more mermaid things (and hopefully not a distressed sweater for £150 again!).

Also please could you take 60 seconds to sign this petition to help increase work towards the prevention of domestic violence? I just saw the petition on Liberty London Girl and can confirm from recent personal experience that Refuge are a fantastic charity.

Nails of the Week 18

I have a love hate relationship with my nails lately as I love getting a really perfect manicure in an amazing colour, but they're just not enough! Maybe they need to be longer or rounder, or I might stick some things on my ring finger. I got Pink Friday by OPI x Nicki Minaj as I looove her but spotted Essie Knockout Pout at the salon and had to have that put on instead. It's a milky, tutti-fruiti pink, a bit softer and less orange than Barry M's Pink Flamingo. Goes well with my latest cheapie phone case
