Wireless 2013!

I am so glad I booked a very last minute ticket to Wireless Festival! It dawned on me earlier that any international readers may not be so familiar with festivals and I've seen a lot of bloggers attending Wireless last weekend as guests. Wireless is a London based festival without camping so you just rock up each day looking fresh and fabulous, and my friends and I travelled there on the day and checked into a hotel before hand. We went last year for Drake and when we realised a few of us could book Monday off this year, we booked up and hit London! The current heatwave in the UK means after travelling on the train to London and across on the tube, I had another cold shower at the hotel before pinning in a standard hair flower and throwing on my Motel two piece!

Haha obviously loving life in these photos, the festival was amazing! This year it was in Olympic Park where the 2012 Olympics were held, right by Westfield Shopping Centre. In a strange school trip-style formation, you had to walk through the shopping centre along with all the other festivaal goers and then onto a looong, dusty walkway to the park. It was more of a building site than a park as there was no grass anywhere at the festival but instead this green straw sheet on the ground at the stages! It totally looks like grass in the photos though right? Well it wasn't!

The heat was sweltering but we got through the gates and headed to the main stage where A$AP Rocky was about to come on stage. I've seen him (and met him!) recently so we dove straight into the thick of the crowd near the front. On TV the crowds look so close together but when you're in them, you do have space around you and we were dancing and putting our hands in the air, loving the show! At one point A$AP Twelvy crowd-surfed and fell into the crowd but couldn't get back over the barrier so stayed behind it and carried on haha! There were girls all around him screaming in his face and the cameras for the big screens were just showing him and the whole crowd were laughing so much, it was hilarious! I think it was a little early for such stage craziness as the crowd wasn't really hyped up yet, but the day was just beginning.

Most people were sitting so we moved back and found a spot to chill, where we stayed for the rest of the day! When you're in the crowd you can't see over people's heads and you get jostled and pushed so we laid back and enjoyed all the acts where we could dance and pop to any food or drinks stands. As for my outfit, I got the Motel Fonda crop top with the matching skirt AND shorts as I was sure the skirt would ride up when you walked. After some road testing, I found it was fine so I was super comfortable all day as this outfit is so light and breezy! I love everything matching right now.

We made loads of friends and none-stop danced right through the day until Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake made the crowd all stand up, and then Rihanna came out for a suprise set! I thought it was just a soundtrack as I was having so much fun dancing and then my friend Vanessa was saying 'Look Rihanna is on stage!'. I wish she had played a longer set but I'm so happy to have seen Rihanna live! Also these girls are the most fun ever, I can't wait until even more of our group head to V Festival in a month!

It was such a fun day; a festival really feels like a holiday but with tens of thousands of other holiday makers around you and constant great music. The next day Vanessa and I recovered at The Breakfast Club, a retro London cafe with the best menu! I had a veggie English breakfast with pancakes and a green smoothie; it was all so tasty and was the perfect setting to remember the festival highlights.

Nails Of The Week 29: On Cloud Nine

I have been on the hunt for the perfect lilac/powder blue/grey polish for SO LONG and it has finally joined my life, along with a valuable lesson. I'm sure you know the experience of trawling makeup stands full of shiny treasures and spotting the lipstick/blush/polish colour that looks perfect. Just the right shade, tone and texture on the back of your hand or in the bottle; the one you know will compliment perfectly. Then you walk out of the shop, try it on, and it is not perfect at all. It has somehow morphed into something totally different to what you envisioned and your £5 is down the drain.

I've bought lots of powder blues in hope of finding a muted lilac or cornflower blue but none were right. Barry M's Gelly Blueberry looks like it would be but it comes out much darker and richer than its bottle shade. Gah!

However the lesson I have learnt is to buy from swatches rather than the appearance. I Googled around and found a few blog posts with Revlon Cloud, a white/lilac in the bottle but a powdery indigo on the nails! I bought it from eBay as I'm not sure if the colour is in stores and when it arrived I was dubious, but it was true to the swatches and never has a colour felt so on point. I've compared it below next to it's closest shades in my collection and realise Barry M just doesn't do soft shades, which is no negative as they are famed for opaque, rich colours. For now, Revlon has my total attention and I'll be browsing swatches before I buy in the future!

Pointed or 'stiletto' nails will round off very quickly, especially if you type as fast as me, so I have just filed mine into points again ready for Wireless tomorrow! The London based festival has already been going on for the past two days and it has been so exciting but a little torturous to see everyone already there; I can't wait to wake up tomorrow!

New Beginnings

I have some exciting news that I am so pleased to share! I am taking the next step in my career and my time at Motel Rocks has came to an end! And hasn't it been a good run (: From a relatively unknown brand, every fashion lover now knows exactly what Motel is all about, and as the person behind the social media handles, competitions and blogger work, it's no wonder the past two years have flown by! I've barely had time to take stock, usually taken on this very blog. I turned my hobby and passion into a job and now I'm entering a new industry that is not actually fashion! Exciting!

Where will all the fashion love go? Hopefully into my own baby, this blog! If you have been a long term reader and have followed my journeys, this one has been a rollercoaster of challenges and I'm so ready for the next. Living as a single person in a city as extortionately expensive as Bristol means I've been working my butt off gaining all the experience I could, but my new role near my home town means I should be more financially better off and not have to travel hours to see my loved ones. I'll be living with my mom in the week and my nan on the weekend, and the thought of actually being able to see my family and friends whenever I want to is the feeling best ever! I think when you start working full time and you realise this means five days a week for 52 weeks a year, you have to work out what makes it all worthwhile. I'm a big believer in taking opportunities and that's why I have all the experiences I do. The next chapter will be about new challenges and skills in my career, personal development (can you believe I can't drive?!), travel, and above all, pouring every ounce of my fashion love into my own blog. Yay! Thank you for all your kind messages too, the amount has been overwhelming and it's been wonderful working with so many fantastic bloggers over the years.

Crochet Crazy

I don't find the weather alters my wardrobe needs but rather I only buy things for any upcoming occasions or events. I plan my outfits in advance of any calendar entry instead of stocking up on seasonal items or having a huge splurge, and at the moment I am only considering that I have a few festivals and my birthday coming up this season. After that, we are into a whole other realm of clothing as we pull out our winter threads (sorry for saying that!). Who knows how the weather will fare - all I know is I have enough sunny day outfits stocked up and I don't really need anything right now, like say how you might need a winter coat to stave off frostbite. I already have my Wireless and V Fest outfits sorted!

However, welcome all the things I simply want! A lust list is different as it may not even be things that would suit you but you find yourself reblogging and repinning until you realise these things really would make your life that little bit better. Or at least your wardrobe! Right now I've been searching pictures of crochet everything and one eBay search for crochet kimonos lead to a ShopStyle search for crochet dresses and now I'm hovering with my debit card thinking where can I wear such an item?! A festival maybe, but what about the mud? A club maybe, but wouldn't it be a bit hot? Will it look like a carpet or beach dress? I do believe if you are going to go for a trend, you need to go the full way and really invest in it so I saw the fashion blogger favourite crochet brand Emma on Karla's Closet and it was as though the fashion Gods had sent it straight to me.

Emma not only has a fantastic selection of midi, maxi, tight and lose dresses, but they all come in cream OR white, and they are ethically sourced. The dresses are handmade in Zimbabwe and each purchase contributes to kids and families in Zimbabwe. There are also sweet quotes accompanying each dress such as 'When you stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch you' and 'Be the change you want to see in the world.'

The question is whether to indulge in your trend lustings or let the urge pass you by and wait for another to overtake? Or in my case, the answer is to take a few old trends you did invest in, sell them on eBay, and raise your own funds to invest in your latest trend love!

I've seen a few bloggers in the middle ASOS dress but a mini one would suit better for me. The white one on the right could be perfect but something isn't quite right, maybe it's a little more like lace than crochet? If the black was in white then it would be 100% mine!

The Missguided ombr√© dress is super sweet but I wanted pure white and inky grey tones don't suit me as much, and the black dress could be perfect but maybe the super hot model could make anything look great?! The Emma dresses seem the way to go, but I haven't bitten yet. I'll see if the urge passes!
